organization of freestyle

Organization:
Thatís the key word right now for this community so that it can move forward.
Times a wasting no one out of 2000 who read the last thread, which caused so much debate, have stepped up to the plate.
The day to days of the freestyle world has resumed back to its normalcy omg this is exhausting to read and watch.
Itís a time for all to become leaders and come on to their own. Move away from the forums people and make music make good music.
If soul music had its Quincy Jones then had its timberland who will be that for freestyle?
If pop music had its songwriters ala Diane warren who is that for freestyle today?
Stop following and lead do not leave your destiny to someone else.
If you had one hit move pass it and stop thinking that itís your saving grace.

Climb out of the crew thing and push forward its not a matter of loyalty itís a matter of making things happen sometimes you got to come on to your own as an individual to then help your crew.

Like relationships sometimes itís just not right and you have to let go.

Let go of this unproductive mentality stop reading the nonsense and making that the highlight of your week like oooh so & so in freestyle are arguing cause itís a distraction to what matters here your careers.

Move forward its 2009 soon to be 2010. The true times of this sound happened in late 1994 /1995 if those numbers donít speak volumes I really donít know what does.
Organize your life recreate your music career by becoming a better artist a better performer.
If youíre a songwriter be one if youíre a better producer be one if you have no talent step back im sorry but be honest to those who are not. If the world was your oyster back in the day it is not now so do something in stead of pouting and complaining after 15 plus years that you havenít made it.
Move on be more than what you are really.
You owe it too yourselves to the families who stuck by you while you chased this to no avail
Iím not saying leave freestyle Iím saying make it better already.its yours
If you donít believe what a waste this has become take a step back join one of the other forums any one some are fucking ghost towns some are twins even triplets of this one and Iíve even watched my good friend Kenny who I respect try to reach out to bring other into discussions but get treated as he did back in c.f
Be a fly on the wall watch the discussions and it will disappoint you to see how far we are from unity let alone being able to compete on a musical level with the rest of the music business.

My commentary may not be welcome or it may fall on deaf ears yet again but at least someone regardless of whether I record it still or perform it is trying to reach out as a vet to say wake up please wake up and do something.

In closing donít continue this thread with your scientific views of whatís gone wrong or your agendas to belittle each other. If you care for freestyle just do something more than what you have.

This is not meant to quarrel this is meant as a call to arms for a sound that needs improvement and growth

peace

Kay is right. the time is now and we have to do something before its too late. dance is back in fullforce and freestyle needs to be reborn with a new sound. we have to take it over and keep it for ourselves if we ever want creditabilty oe respect again.

SO LET'S MEET! LET'S DO SOMETHING!

GOD! I MEAN, HERE I AM READY TO STEP UP! I'M ALWAYS READY TO STEP UP!

Maybe deep down you all want it inherently to "go away"...I dunno since the talk comes out but no action. I'll meet, take a conference call...whatever it takes. But let's stop the talk on this and just do it.

Waiting anxiously for another callback........

Re: organization of freestyle

Sir
With all you know how I think you may feel that my thread pertains to you, which it doesnít
But if you want to do something with freestyle make your way to these events and speak to the struggling artist out here and motivate them to change inspire change writing on these forums have become redundant and at times silly non productive to this sound.
I am not the one to be the changer of freestyle I am a concerned vet who knows that things need to change.
If I become involved by be the face of this change I will be in the cross hairs of all the detractors who rather you all be dumb and not know where to go.
All I would like to say is that the change starts with better music better performances better looks.
And more one thing look at the great artist outside freestyle who came before for inspiration there was only one Luther vandross no copies only one bob Marley only one Michael Jackson only one prince one Madonna so stop mimicking each other be original donít be scared to be different.

Sir your knowledge in dance is welcomed but the discussions on every forum out here are absolutely nonsense Ö I know you put a lot of effort into this but still a waste Ö go beyond this page donít look to us for what you should do just be you be original break the mold of freestyle and do better now.
Im willing to talk to anyone but donít wait for my call to do it just do it for freestyle

K7,

I know this thread does not pertain to me. Never said that it did. It pertains to the discussion regarding freestyle music.

I don't know how close you may follow the coalition but I HAVE spoken with many artists regarding the views I have regarding the music. It's not that I just sit around and complain. I make my criticisms on a constructive front so as perhaps people can "wake up" and take charge and do something on it. And the artists have a feel, so I've been told, that what I'm saying I do so "for real". I'm not looking for anything else but the music (dance as a WHOLE) to prosper.

Just as much as I do reach out to artists, and they reach to me...there is still more that I need to know so that I can construct a good argument for people to think on. That is why I had wanted to speak with you personally; to get a better understanding of the message you are trying to convey as well as approach matters in a way that can be beneficial for all involved. I strongly believe a meeting is essential. Even if NOTHING gets accomplished by it, at least the "foundation" is set somehow and we can take things from that and build upon it.

You are on the "line of fire" with this being a major artist from that genre, though you have continued your career outside of it. And, just as you are saying here, I've been told by many others that what I am trying to do here is a "waste". However, the one thing I will NEVER do is give up.

I'd rather lose a "fight" knowing that I've stood up to the detractors and ignorance, versus walking away without trying and allowing negativism to set in. I can't do that. I've spent the past 15 years of my life trying to assess every angle regarding dance music as a whole so as things can improve in this country. The "call" I had on this was a deeper one.

Some people will always come off negative about things and that is unfortunate. I'm just going to keep on trying, smiling and pushing forward. When I die, that's when it ends for me.

Thank you,

Re: organization of freestyle

This thread should have more responses than the "K7/TKA is pissed thread". It does not well because.....online drama sells all else fails.

If i can make a suggestion as a long life fan of this sound and will be till I die...

If at all possible, for any of the freestyle pioneers to go in search of raw talent. Some 16-21 year old whose hungry to make it big.Who is willling to put in all the hard work.Someone who is not yet a creature of their own habit.

Just look at Maurice Starr who "discovered" New Edition. They have much success. He didn't stop there...he had even more success with NKOTB.

As some of us might know,Joey Gardner went into the basement of a Spanish Harlem bldg because he heard of a group that was quite popular with the teens and the rest is history.

The talent is out there. It's just a matter of who finds it first.

Re: organization of freestyle

WS, you are SO right.

This thread should have had more responses going but then again, no drama here. I'm not a person that is into the drama since it just continues to hold things back, nor will I succumb to it, if others want to get into some sort of disagreement "match", fine. I'm just trying to figure out something and then work with it somehow and would like for others to work along side me to try to attempt to do something.

A lot of what had been brought up on other threads were in my mind YEARS ago. They have been addressed on the coalition forum and other places. Yet, in here, the discussion tries to come along...YET AGAIN...only to be "bogarted" with shouting/pissing matches. And then someone comes up with an idea that I had earlier in the post and people are like.....great idea. To which I smack myself in the head because it's like "HELLOOOOOOO", didn't you see what I wrote 3 pages ago?

Yet, people will write me on a PM wanting to talk about it.

I honestly don't get it. Perhaps SmoothRhythm was right...I should just plain give up. It isn't me but if all this is going to become is "talk" without an actual "walk", then I should just "walk" for my own solution and do something completely different on my own. If it attracts that next generation somehow, then there you go.

Re: organization of freestyle

I have to use Willie Valentin as an example.

He came to New England 15 years ago and created his own audience.

He took the opportunities given to him by our radio stations in MA and CT and got a solid fan base together.

Once he promoted himself he started promoting his new music.
Then he started promoting his lable. He pressed his own cds and sold them.

With this opportunity he opened the doors for many Artists in the area.

Not only is he a headliner in New England but he gets paid at every show plus he still sells his merch.

He never worried about getting on the big shows (though I'm sure he wanted to be part of them) and just kept his focus on all of the work he had to do.

I can personally write that he put in countless hours.

I can also get into deep specifics, but my point is.

Why can't this happen now??

We have more on air time (17 hours) weekly on FM radio that we had before.
We have fans and the remaining mom and pop record stores ALWAYS calling about buying new material.

All they get now are 10 years of empty promises and fake releases.

This is why I get on Artists on line; This is why I'm harsh when I write.

The opportunity is there, but the lazyness continues.

CPR, you are SO right!

Yeah, just with the Willie Valentin example, you gotta go out there and "bust your ass", to which I think even MORESO, because as a genre, if you still want to call this "freestyle" or whatever new name comes down the road, there is a lot that has to be proven. There is NO room for laziness this time around.

That's what has to be instilled to the next generation somehow....that NOTHING comes easy and that if you want to "make it", that you have to bust your butt around the industry and hustle, instill self-discipline (no drinking or drugs before a performance, get to a performance "on time", maintain professionalism to oneself and the fans that admire the music, produce a track on a timely basis and get them out to distribution on time.) and make sure you get an attorney to read all the fine prints so as you don't get "screwed".
