New Audio Files Posted

I just posted up a few excerpts from my new mix CD Bronx Tale Volume 3 on my page. Check them out at www.myspace.com/kidheartbreakmusic and let me know what y'all think. It's the first two audio files posted. I'll be posting up more excerpts later.

Re: New Audio Files Posted

Here's the playlist for the entire mix. I indexed it every 3 or 4 songs (there's obviously a lot more than 19 songs here, lol). That's part of the reason why the audio samples posted are so short. I have to burn a copy where I have a few of the indexes merged into one.

Color of Pain is by Sito. It's his solo track.

You're right about that one. I should've put "Pain f/Sito".

That would still be incorrect. It's Hector's solo project. It's completely separate from what Hector & Jay do together as "Pain".

I see what you're saying. We should keep in mind that this is freestyle and if there's someone who was at any point part of a group, they are seen as "the group", LOL. I wish I would've had some of Jay's solo material (Unbroken) at the time I made this mix as I would have liked to have gotten that on there also. Pain is actually a very known name in the freestyle universe. Most anyone who likes freestyle has heard of them. That would be a good current act to start with if these megashow promoters ever wanted something that debuted at anypoint in the last 21 years.

Re: New Audio Files Posted

I didn't even realize this before, but almost half the songs on there are current (came out in the last year or 2). And I didn't even get anything from the new Tazmania CD on there as the mix was already complete before I had that. I can think of at least 3 songs right off the top of my head from that CD that I would have loved to have mixed in to this. There's obviously plenty of new freestyle being produced and a lot of it is good. There's good current freestyle songs out that I didn't even play in that mix. And then people say stuff like, "they still make new freestyle?". How ignorant can people be?

Re: New Audio Files Posted

I have to check it out but first impression why so much old stuff? When there has been a lot of dope new freestyle the last two years.

This is freestyle's kryptonite....being stuck in the past, time warped

People get right,it's about to be 2010!!!! And some of you are still rocking shit from the 80's like it was brand new.

That's how we do out here in Chicago. It would be impossible to market a freestyle mix CD with absolutely no old school on it. To be completely honest with you, even as much current material that is actually on there is too much for Chicago freestyle heads. Anyone out here who would be interested in a freestyle CD only wants old school. Plus, I like hearing the new stuff mixed in next to the classics. It shows continuity within the music (something totally missing in freestyle). Those words are what I always used to defend myself against criticism that I would play too much new freestyle in my mixes as all most people want is old school. This way, I bait the people who don't want to hear anything new with some old school that they recognize. Also, I myself happen to love old school freestyle.

Totally follow your logic from a business persepctive. I just think we need to break the mold with introducing a new generation of freestyle. I could not imagine a current Hip Hop mix tape with the likes of Run DMC,Big Daddy Kane,Special Ed as the main attraction.
